Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup (240g) cottage cheese
- 2 tablespoons (25g) sugar
- 1 teaspoon (5g) salt
- 1/4 cup (60ml) warm water
- 2 1/4 teaspoons (7g) active dry yeast
- 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
Instructions
- Activate Yeast: In a small bowl, dissolve the sugar and yeast in warm water. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the cottage cheese and salt until well blended.
- Combine Mixtures: Pour the activated yeast into the cottage cheese mixture and stir gently.
- Add Flour: Gradually incorporate the flour, stirring until a soft dough forms.
- Knead Dough: Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1-2 hours.
- Shape and Second Rise: Punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf, and place it in a greased loaf pan. Cover and let it rise again until doubled.
- Bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the loaf for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and it sounds hollow when tapped.
- Cool: Remove from the pan and cool on a wire rack before slicing.
Notes
For a healthier twist, consider substituting all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour to increase fiber content and add a nutty flavor.
