Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cod fillets (about 6 oz each)
  • 8 taco shells (corn or flour)
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage
  • ½ cup pico de gallo
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • ½ cup creamy lime sauce
  • Optional: Cotija cheese, cilantro, and lime wedges for garnish

Instructions

  • Prepare the Cod:
Rinse the cod fillets under cold water, then pat dry. Cut into taco-sized portions. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and chili powder. Let marinate for 15–20 minutes.

  • Cooking the Cod:
Pan-Seared Cod: Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the fillets for 3–4 minutes per side until golden and flaky.
Baked Cod: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the fillets on a greased baking sheet and bake for 12–15 minutes until the fish flakes easily.
Deep-Fried Cod: Coat the fillets with a batter (1 cup flour, 1 tsp baking powder, salt, and cold water) and fry in hot oil (350°F) until golden brown.

  • Assemble the Tacos:
Warm the tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave. Place cooked cod in each tortilla, then top with shredded cabbage, pico de gallo, avocado slices, and a drizzle of creamy lime sauce. Garnish with cilantro and lime wedges.

Notes

Customize the taco fillings with your favorite toppings such as spicy chipotle mayo, salsa verde, or shredded cheese for added flavor. Experiment with different types of tortillas and sauces to suit your tastes.
